Our History
Our Family officially started our family business in 1948. Our father started working in 1977 with his father starting in Dunfermline & Cowdenbeath.
Our father Adam attended one of the first Quartz Watch Repair courses run by the BHI (British Horological Institute) in 1978.
After attaining soldering and general jewellery repair skills, he received updated training at a BHI course on Quartz Watch Repair in 1995.
Re-establishing the business in 2001 in Dunfermline, he took an Advanced Quartz Watch Repair course in 2002 and has also attended an advanced course on Mechanical Watch Escapement Servicing and Repair.
He has passed all his knowledge and skills to his two eldest sons side by side with his uncle, who was the original Mr Winski (aka The “GURU”)
Andrew and Matt have both attended and completed watch courses at BHI and are both time serviced watch Technicians.
About Us Now
Since those early beginnings, our family have sold the Cowdenbeath store in 1983 when our grandfather retired, our parents sold the Dunfermline store in 2010 and we set up a new business called ‘Winski’s of Kinross’, specialising in watch, Clock & Jewellery Repairs - this was opened in 2011 in Kinross High Street. The shop then relocated to our new premises in the Liberty Business Centre, also in Kinross High Street in 2014.
Part of the reason for our newest location is to help support us with our Trade repairs and our ‘Quartz Conversions' (www.quartz-conversions.co.uk) which operates from a dedicated workbench and specialises in the conversion of mechanical watches to quartz. Just visit the website or call in for more details on this process.
